The ‘New’ Face of Facebook
So yes, once again, the layout for Facebook has changed. And even though this can sometimes be confusing and
frustrating, the tweaks and adjustments are to make things easier for users to navigate, even though it may not seem that way at first. It really isn’t done to just anger you. So let’s take a look at how Facebook has changed in a positive way.
At first, I was also stumped by the sudden changes. Where in the world was my inbox and why do I have all the news feeds? I found that going to the “help center” icon was actually, quite helpful. This can be found under “Account” on the top, right-hand side of your page. It’s probably the most helpful “help” center I have see
The help center is broken down in different categories and each category is broken down using icons. The categories are “Using Facebook, Facebook Applications and Features, and Ads and Business Solutions.”
The reason I first went to the help center was because I kept receiving news feeds of what every person was doing like who needs what for Farmville, which person joined what group, and that’s not what interests me. I personally like to see status updates. On the right side of this help center is a section that says, “guide to the new home page” That was what I needed.
I found that if I click on the word “friends” on the left hand side of my screen, I could select “status updates.” Some of this can be found by trial and error and simple exploration, but for a bit more information if you find yourself in a bind, the help center will certainly provide you with the answers.
The new Facebook was designed to keep things simpler and let people access things from the left side of their screen such as several different types of applications that were once found on the bottom of the page. After some exploration, things will become easier and if need be, the help center can provide all the tools you need to make your Facebook fun again.
